Competitions 2023

This year's finals were held over three days - Thursday 7th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September - not as late last year, having agreed with the EWPGBA to postpone the Men's last fixture away to Sully Sports to Saturday 16th.
Thanks to Margaret and Mark Krawiecki for having organised and run this year's event. The organisers also pass on their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the volunteers involved in making it a success before and on the days - green and ground maintenance, Eileen for the catering,
competitors and supporters. It wouldn't happen without you.

DAY ONE - Thursday 7th September

Women's Pairs: Winners -  Christine Pegg & Ann Lowndes
                               Runners-up - Margaret Krawiecka & Nicola Olson

DAY TWO - Saturday 9th September

A very hot day for bowls  - congratulations to everyone for getting through the day. Special mentions to Andrew Herbert, Liz Cugley and Eileen for marking the singles and Novices competitions. Thanks to Gavin and Darren for donating some craft beers as refreshment. Thanks as well, to the few who came to support the competitors.

Congratulations and commiserations to the following:

                             Runner-up Steven Bollschweiler

DAY THREE - Sunday 10th September

With thunderstorms threatening and a mid morning start, the temperature was cooler than on Saturday. The players in the Men's Pairs Final were glad of the cooler weather and had to stop for a few minutes to allow a heavy shower to pass. The winners of the Men's Pairs Final, Iain Russell and Martin Hopkins were the first recipients of the new trophy, generously donated by Rose Capron, wife of the late Keith Capron, long time bowler of the club. Later in the day, when the Mixed Pairs Final began the sun was out again and the heat was uncomfortable out of the shade. Thanks again to the volunteers who made the day happen and especially to the handful of supporters, one of whom was Ann Parsons who unfortunately had been unable to attend the Singles Finals on Saturday.

Congratulations and commiserations to the following:

Men's Pairs: Winners - Iain Russell & Martin Hopkins
                        Runners-up - Barrie Thomas & Jordan Napper

Mixed Pairs: Winners - Iain Russell & Eileen Boddington
                        Runners-up - Keith Davies & Margaret Krawiecka
