Congrats to Pat Sedgebeer on passing out as a Coach. Brilliant!

Pat is one of the "South Wales Borderers" who put in so much time on the surrounds of the green

This Season the second team will play in the newly formed PG3, the difference being only 3 rinks will be required and only 12 points on offer. This was a proposal  submitted by the Pentyrch club some four years ago which did not receive much support, at that stage!
Cheese & Wine well supported, table groaning under the weight of food once again!
What an amazing Captain we have this year in Ian Broxton who won 3 Trophies on Finals Day incl the Club Championship.
Not to be outdone by a mere male, Hazel Davies achieved the same treble.
Strange that each season  a bowler or bowlers win multiple honours.
Congrats to the successful John Calnan Cup Winners; Barry Thomas, Sam Bird and Jan Berry.
Congrats also to the very gallant runners-up who took it right to the wire; Jean Standen, Howard Thomas and Norman Poulson
Congrats also to Anne George who organised the event and had a series of last minute withdrawals to contend with.
Fixture Secretary, Ken Sedgebeer informs me that Pentyrch have a record number of fixtures in 2007.
Anne George has sent out the programme of Domestic Competitions and urges members to get  their names in for inclusion asap.
Anne George has had some treatment and I understand is considerably more comfortable. Best wishes for a complete recovery, from Everyone
Our Captains, Ian Broxton, Howard Thomas and Coleen O'Connor are already "geeing-up" the members and if their enthusiasm is transferred onto the green, Pentyrch are in for a successful season
I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2008 and may all woods be close to the jack!

Captain Ian Broxton is extremely disappointed with the so-called "first team" players who have not won a single match thus far.
Pentyrch BC was invited to supply a rink at St Fagans on Thursday 31st, by the WPGBA Eastern Section President, Charles Ayres and the rink comprising, Ian Broxton, Colin Howson, Denzil and Barry Thomas emerged as highest winning rink. An enjoyable evening was spent with the hosts, just how enjoyable will be demonstrated in photographic evidence shortly!
Captain's Privilege?
Now back from Mid Wales Tour, it will be interesting to hear Ian's comments!

D Oscar Evans a long serving bowler and former PG1 Captain has allowed his name to go forward as Club Captain for 2008!

The "Old Codgers"   had a good 2007, winning, every game, (so I'm told!) . 18 players have so far, played 5 games between them, against formidable opposition, Whitchurch Hospital and St Joes among them.

Pentyrch have to start well, the Friendly (anything but!) against arch rivals Taffs Well this game is the first leg of a rubber for a recently introduced "Garth Cup" They hammered us last season and we should get some extra training in.

CMWL also went well in 2006, finishing 4th . A similar position has been attained this season.

Barry Thomas who has had a brilliant Season, incl the 2 Wood Championship
Weather has caused havoc with our fixtures, we lost the prestigious Presidents invitation fixture and Chas Ayres had assembled a great team too, as well as a PG2 and a CMWL fixture.
The PG1 fixture at BP went ahead and proved an exciting affair with with two rinks up and 2 down, unfortunately 8 shots deficit!
Congrats to the Single rink who defeated Rhiwbina,  in the Cratchly KO comp. This Friday  13th, they journey to Cardiff Athletic in the next round

Howard Thomas reports PG2 recorded some good wins but have overall lacked consistency,  Oscar Evans was on fire and Derek Farmer back in the Lead position played well.

Pat Morgan who appeared in 4 finals, in the 2006 tournament!

The Club urgently needs new blood!
It is a brilliant sport that keeps you fit and allows you to socialise in a way no other sport can.

Monday Evening  Spoons is always well supported and we are looking to recruit some new  members, through this event, particularly gentlemen.   5.45-7.30 ish .  Apr 16th, 2 Gentlemen and a Lady turned up for opening night!

The Junior Section will re-commence shortly and a warm welcome awaits you.  4.15 or 4.30 on Fridays Why don't you tell us if this is not convenient or even if you would like additional sessions.
No expense spared!
The local Schools are continuing to come to the green for practice and there will be a trophy for the top school next season!
